Protein Skimmer

I need a protein skimmer that is a preformer and is quiet in operation. Also needs to be hangon. Small tank , less than 40 gals.

I've had real good luck with the Red Sea prizm deluxe HOB. Quiet and good performer for the cost and for that size tank. The surface skimmer atachment is a sweet bonus!

I have Red Sea Skimmer, It has become very noisey. I had to turn it almost wide open to get performance

I am considering purchasing a HOB octopus skimmer for my 29 gallon. If you look in the archives there is big thread on them and they look pretty promising.

Ben, how long have you had it? The pump may be going bad. Have you tried taking it apart and cleaning it?Mines been running for over a year and I take it apart every 2 or 3 months and give it a good cleaning. My valve is only half open and I get a good ammount of skim daily.

I used the octopus hang-on back skimmer on my 25. I worked awesome and was quiet.

I have the AquaC Remora and it works great. It was a little noisy at first but after a few days is quieted down and can't even tell its there.

aqua c is nice,,prism is louder then any ive owned including my recirc skimmer with 2 pumps ,,I use it for my qt tank only and for emergency when need a hang on quickly,,it works very well just always needs constant adjustment even after weeks of running continuously,,overfills the cup a lot if you dont keep an eye on it as well. do some blog searches and you will see im not alone with these problems.
