Kenya Tree Parting Out?

So I have had a healthy and growing kenya tree for a while. Had to move him around a few times when we need to "re decorate" or add something new, no problems. Its still doing good , but self amputating branches! 4 so far and it looks to be a 5th on the way. Again, all loo healthy, main coral and amputations.

What is the cause (or did it decide to multiply?)

What can I do with the frags? ( I tried to chip off a lil piece of rock, drill a hole in it, and stab the stalk with a toothpick to hold it on there. Didnt work. Unattached after a day.

Any advice?

It probably did that because it is natural. I have one that was on a small rock. I guss the current kept it pressed on a nearby rock and now it has attached to it. It is also splitting itself in half...

I would just put the frags in a TupperWare with some rubble on the bottom and wait for them to attach.

HTH!

Yep, that is how Kenya Tree's reproduce. They pinch off branches that eventually drop off.

Ditto. These are pretty and cool corals but they will take over your tank by spitting off branches which will attach to whatever they land on. The key to propogating them is getting the branch soon after it drops and then super gluing it to a chunk of rock.

I use the frags that I get from my Kenya Tree coral as trade-ins at LFS to get credit towards new corals. 3 weeks ago I traded in 9 frags to get this coral for free:

The LFS will usually give you credit for half of what they will sell coral for. As the Kenya Tree grows, branches will naturally break off. I usually will then rubberband it to small LR rubble or will gently wedge it in small hole in LR piece. Generally will attach within a week.

Thanks for the tips. I will have to find some good glue and rubble. I read that superglue GEL is aquarium safe, but does it work well with wet surfaces?
Any other product to recommend?

THANKS
