wavemaker or closed loop surge?
i am debating on whether to use the tunze wavemaker or set up 2 closed loop systems for a surge on my tank i am putting together. its 480 gl in the display tank. my options are using a hammerhead and dolphin 1 hp i already hvae with 2 om 4 ways or buy the tunze system and use that. any advise on pros or cons of the two options.
my thoughts are the tunze efficiency would save me around 700.00 per year over the other option. set up cost is going to be around 1000.00 either way. just need some real experiance advise please. |

I think you would need two of the Tunze wavemakers in that size tank.
I've seen a closed loop system in a tank that size, and it was awsome! In my opinion, I would go with the closed loop and use the Reeflo Hammerhead. I'm doing a closed loop in my 150 gal. build using a Reeflo Dart.

i am thinking of sing the hammerhead for a closed loop system to psh thr the rock work and the 2 tunze wave makers for tank flow instead of the two seperate cl systems for tidal movement. i think this will save energy and create better movement. any other sggestions?
does anyone have any personal experiance with the wave makers? |

I have a closed loop on a 175. It is split between an OM 4 way and two other line with 2 outlets each. My water movement is fine. I would think w the OM and other outlets you would be in good shape also.
