sponges taking over

the sponges arnt taking over the main tank but in the over flow and the sump and fuge i almost cand see through the glass. is this somthing i should be worried about or as long as they arnt taking over the main tank im ok type of thing??



im trying to get some pic's to post

Picks would help of course, butI'd guess you have excess bacteria in your tank. Are you dosing a carbon source by chance?

yes i have some carbon in in a filter bag in my sump.. dose that affect it?

No, I meant are you dosing sugar, vodka, vinegar etc... I would guess from your response that you are not. I pick would help... If you have a lot of sponges, there has to be excess food for them. They tend to eat bacteria and other plankton.

They won't harm anything , It is just another sign that your husbandry skills could be honed a little more.

Nope, they're helping filter the water and not something to be worried about. A picture would help in the ID, but in general you're fine.

Don't listen to this chowderhead, he doesn't know a darn thing about your husbandry skills.

Sponges are a sign of a healthy and thriving ecosystem. Assuming that your tank isn't super-infested with algae, it actually means that your doing pretty well.

I have plenty of sponges in my overflows, because I dose live phytoplankton a few times per week to feed my featherduster worms.
