Amperage

Hi!

I have never run Metal Halides before and am thinking about putting a pendant in my fish room. It is on a pretty loaded circuit right now and I am wondering how many amps a 150w HQI or a 175w Mogul Base Metal Halide will draw? Thanks!!

Amps=Watts/Volts

On an electronic ballast(a magnetic may draw more) a 150 watt MH will draw ~1.25 amps.

You should not push an electrical circuit right to its max, it would be alot safer for yourself/family to just run another circuit.

What James said...

You should not load the circuit to more than about 80% of the rated capacity. The MH/ballast combo will draw someplace close to 175-200 watts depending on the combination.
