90G DT water flow
I'm currently using 2 maxijet 600 (unmodded) and sump return as flow. I believe I need more flow. I'm thinking to replace both maxijet 600 to Koralia 4. Do you think it may be too much? or should i look at other options?

Not at all. Two Koralia 4 might be okay if you only have LPS. If you have SPS then IMO they are barely enough. I had two in the opposite ends of my 90 before, and the middle was lacking of flow.
They sell conversion kits (Sure Flow or ECOMOD) for the MaxiJet if you want to upgrade them. Don't use them on a wave maker. Sure Flow ECO MOD |

Ok, here is where I got confused. I saw a thread that some guy modded a k4 with sure flow. I thought the sureflow was only for maxijet?
Why can't I use wavemaker? Here is the thread that I mentioned. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...d&pagenumber=1 |

He used the prop and magnet from the Sure Flow kit (intended for a MaxiJet) on his old non controllable Koralia 4. I tried it a year ago on my K4, and didn't like them. I think my Koralias were a lot more sensitive with the mod. I ran mine on my AcJr for wavemaking action (on/off every 15 minutes) and was frustrated by how often they were stuck or make so much noises when they spin backward. I got sick of putting my hands in the tank to correct them.
They sell the controllable Koralia that you can use on a wavemaker, but you need to use them on their wavemaker. IMO their wavemaker is not worth the price. Last edited by chris4869; 12/06/2008 at 12:35 AM. |
