My S200 .

Installed it , ran it for two days, cleaned the cup and this is after two more days. I ran two ASM G3s on my 280 and pulled one of the G3s and replaced it with this one. As a rule I would not clean each skimmer at the same time and would be set to skim wet and one dry. Since installing the S200 it has outproduced the other G3 that is running with it. I have a friend that replaced his G3 with an AS150 and he is happy with the newer unit as well.

Well I woke this morning to about a 1/3 cup of a tea colored cup of skimmate. I did open the air valve all he way open now and the microbubbles have almost stopped. Looking like its working well. More to posted soon. I will take another video here in the next couple days.

Why are you running the air valve? It is a restriction even when open all the way. All the skimmers I've seen have had a label on the box saying to discard them.

I have been interested in these skimmers. I currently have a Euroreef RS180 and it is a bear to keep it from overflowing, and it is loud. Do you any experience w/ the Euroreef skimmers? If so how would you rate it agoaint the WM skimmer?

euro reef were great in their prime. Newer technology has leveled the playing field. The bubble plate helps a lot with reducing turbulance. The Euro reef neck design is what made them a step above imo. Coupled with a good pump it made for a great skimmer. The problem is that you can get a equally performing skimmer or better for less or equal $$$$. How much can one really skim? So obviously some are better than others. But you start looking at the quality of the skimmer and customer support. Well I have had octo extremes, etss, bermuda, msx, AquaC just to name a few and customer service on most it very good. Especially those that make their own. I had a shaft break on a skimmer that used a sicce pump and it took me two weeks to get a replacement. I had one break on my Warner Marine and it was overnighted to me. I didnt have to replace the hose because it was too flimsy. I turned it on and went.
How well does it skim. Well I am getting about 6oz of med skimate a day over the last couple days. it is getting darker as I tune it to run a little drier. Very good skimmer thus far.

Since you've had more skimmers 'n Jesus it would be nice if you gave us your opinion on how they all compare.

Head to head and performance vs dollar amount.

Thanks for the review and the videos. I like the dry bubbles your getting in the neck. Looks like the WM Skimmers are a quality product.

My only disappointment is that there seems to be a LOT more turbulence in the reaction chamber than I expected for a bubble plate skimmer. I'll have to dig up some other videos of other skimmers to see if I am just expecting too much...

well in comparison the old euro reef and asm skimmers that used sedra pump would of used a sedra 2500 or 3500 pump. This uses a sedra 7000. It pushes twice the water flow compared to comparable sized older skimmers.

How would you compare this to your previous Octopus Extreme skimmer? Would you say this is better than the extreme 200? I know for the price you can get an extreme 250 for the as150. Thx.

I would say this skimmer is better built and is just a little different. It moves more water and a little less air. The price is more but the customer service is the best I have had ever had. the skimmer performs well

I am really thinking about getting the AS150. I just want to make sure I am not making a mistake. I have the Euro RS180. Not sure how much better the WM is compared to that.

The as 150 is well built and works well around 7 inch water level. it takes a little more to break in but is moves a ton of water. In comparison the sedra pump on this skimmer is about twice as big as one on a comparible euroreef. It uses a sedra 7000 I dont think you could go wrong. The warner marine line is great. Well with the as 150 you will gain the bubble plate design which allows the skimmer to handle a larger pump and handle more air and water. It has a longer cone section that allows for a gentle upward motion of the bubbles. Great skimmer.

How about overflowing? Will the plate help that?

I never had mine overflow. The bubble plate reduces turbulence in the skimmer to give more contact time and a more constant level in the skimmer. this makes the skimmer easier to adjust. I hope taht this helps.

Yes it does. Do you adjust the skimmer by the gate valve?

yes, its nice to see they didnt use a wedge pipe. you can make finer adjustments with the gate valve over the wedgepipe.

I know this is an old post, but how would you compare the wm as-150 to the vertex IN-100 (taking price out, as the wm is more $$)

Thanks

The WM as 150 is nicer skimmer all the way around really. Built a little better, gate valve, Moves more water and aire. larger reaction area. The AS 150 is well balanced skimmer. I really llike them. I think the retail price of $459 is what really hurt this skimmer. If it were around 300 I think it would of been a top choice for a lot of people. Great skimmer. THe vertex is good but is for those who need to stay under $200.
