Octo extreme 200 vs. WM rx 150
I haven't used either yet but am going to be using one or the other on a 90 gallon heavily stocked mixed reef tank with a 65 sump (half filled). I prefer recirc skimmers but the air pull doesnt seem to be that great on the rx whereas the octo extreme has the air pull. Has anyone had problems with the sicce restarting on that skimmer yet? Thanks in advance.

Out of the two I would go with the cheaper Octo Extreme 200. This is a good match for your planned SPS tank. The Sicce pump with the Pin wheel will out perform the Sedra 7000 in watts and air/water pull. I do however like WM body on the 150 but because of the Sedra pump I am just not a fan. If you can find one with a eheim then I would consider the WM. Sicce pumps don't have trouble starting unless the mesh mod is used and over done.
If you haven't seen this here is a good review to read: http://glassbox-design.com/2008/warn...ughts-ratings/ |

Thank you JR. I figured the Octo was a better skimmer but on this matter felt better getting an opinion b/c I prefer recircs. I dont know why they use the sedras. They work but the air draw doesnt really seem to be there.

JR the octo has already been ordered. I do like the WM recircs but I'd rather go with a model that has the sedra 9000HO compared to the 7000 and in this particular case dollar for dollar..... the octo will do

I had the as 150 and it was good skimmer. Great customer service. the RX 150 looks very nice. They do move a ton of water. The water turnover rate is a bit higher with the WM skimmer but the Octo will pull a little more air. So bang for buck well.... I would probably go with the cheaper one if going insump as well. good luck.

The octo pro series has a recirc model that uses an askoll pump, but it is $100 more expensive than the RX150...
