opinions reguarding live plant

Hello all I need an opinion any input would be helpful I have a 55 gal tank with 4 damsels and two clarkii clowns 2 serpent stars 3 blue leg crabs 2 turbo snails 2 peppermint shrimp tank parms ar good 0 ammo 0 nitrite <0.2 nitrate alk 1.8 ph 8.3 salinity 1.024 oh yeah almost forgot my mushroom rock with 5 mushrooms on it .
anyways was having a water clarity issue and went to a fellow aquariust about it he gave me 5 plants right out of his tank any ways put them in last night after my water change the crabs were picking at it no real damage and the water was like super clear this morning can a few plants alone do this ? or what cleared the water use ro/di water to top off made my own saltwater tank has been up since end of sept. livestock since nov only thing new is plants thanks in advance tried to post a pic but says file size to big am stupid when it comes to photo editing lol

Any idea what kind of plants they are?

Trust me my friend, the names are not important at all. I've own hundreds of different zoas and palys and don't know the name of a single one. In my opinion, they are a waste of valuable time.

I beleive he calls it a sea fern aprox 4-5 in tall looks like a boston fern will get name when he gets outta work

definately a sea fern but not red variety comes from the aluetian (spelling is possibly wrong) islands ? he said there is a red variety as well but it grows uncontrolably also called sea grass
