Caribsea Sand

i've been looking on the website and i like the look of the Bahamas Oolite. Has anyone used this sand?

Also, is the ocean direct brand considered "live sand"? i'm thinking about getting a few bags of this stuff but i want to know what it will do and if its any good! thanks

Greg

The oolite sand is really fine...so take that into consideration w/your powerheads. I personally love (and recommend) tons of flow, at least 20x turnover, but i start at like 30+...anyways, i like more flow than this sand can handle...blows everywhere. Otherwise, i much prefer the look of it over any other sand.

As far as the live stuff...i see no reason to spend the extra bucks on that over regular dry sand, when all your dry sand will become live w/in a few months anyways... Just a marketing gimmick IMO..

personally, I find the carib sea aragamax sugar sized said to be the best. don't waste your money on any live sand, get a cup ful from a friend to seed or just give a few months.

I get 30 lb bags from the local PetSmart fro 18.99
