125 gallon brace question

I got my 125 second hand, it's an all-glass brand tank. The tank has a rim but the rim doesn't have any cross braces, is that alright? Should I make some kind of DIY brace or eurobrace? I emailed aqueon (the new company name or whatever) the same question but they never got back to me, can anyone help me out here?

Does it look like it ever had braces?

Many older tanks were made from extremely thick glass, and/or tempered glass - these did not always need braces. I can't say I'm familiar with older AGA 125's, but I had a 125 from another maker (unknown) with no center brace.

I just saw someone else on here that was starting a build thread and their AGA 125 didn't have a center brace either. As long as it never had one, I would think that you should be fine.

There is no evidence that there was ever a center brace unless the previous owner totally replaced the rim and did a flawless job. The glass is at least 1/2" (maybe 5/8. the weight bearing plastic part of the rim is 1") thick but I don't want to have any problems. The fact that other people have or have seen 125 aga's w/o a brace is comforting. I leak tested it and didn't notice any bulges or leaks or anything but the last thing I want is to have all that wonderful water on my floor =]

If your glass is 1/2 inch or thicker you wont need a center brace. Even at 3/8 thick I would ? the need.
