Green Star Polyp Problems

Hi,

I've had a cluster of Green Star Polyps for about 2 months. They've been quite hardy but the polyps haven't come out now for about 36 hours. Is this normal or have they possibly died? I checked all parameters and nothing appears out of whack - everything else appears to be doing well. I've never noticed them stay retracted this long before.

Did a 20% water change to cover anything I might have missed, curious if anyone has experienced something similar, or know what else I might check.

Thanks,

Tom

Mine do that from tme to time, they will close up for a day or so and then pop back open. I always just consider it thier resting or self cleaning period. I am sure there is a more scientific explanation, but that is what I call it.

Na its normal, if they feel something is bothering them then they won't come out. just be patient. my GSP didn't come out for a month-seriously

i agree. its almost like a self cleansing period and sometimes they do this before they start to spread(grow) you should have no worries

AMAZING!!! LOL I love that tank. It's something that almost no one would do. Seems it would be ultra-low maintenance, wouldn't it?

Well, thanks for sharing - BUT if the photo above is total success I almost hope it died. Either way I feel better, thanks!

GSP can grow and take over a tank very quickly if not kept in check. I use to throw the stuff out monthly after my LFS wouldnt take any more on trade

wow dave, that's quite a explosion of gsp! Cool and scary at the same time!

Mine don't close much. However one time they did stay closed for a couple weeks. That's when I discovered my coral beauty angel went rogue and started nipping at them and other softies in the tank. Back to the lfs went the angel

Mine just did the same thing for about two days nothing. I thought something was wrong but today they are open. So I wouldn't worry.
