brown algae
how soon into the cycle should i see this? does it mean in close to the end.

Brown diatom algae can show up at a variety of times. You will most likely see it sometime during or right after your cycle, but this does not mean your cycle is finished. I've seen tanks that did not see any brown algae for 6-7 months. It all depends on the tank.

i got brown rocks and sand after the cycle myself, it comes and goes for the first 3-4 months, you may get green algae as well, the marine aquarium is unpredictable with this and all tanks are different with the only guarentee we all see something at one time or another, what we see depends on the individual tank, i dont think there is a particular time scale, just gonna happen in the first few months for most
