aiptasia removal

I got a piece of rock the other day and turns out it has aiptasia on it. I took the rock out and cut it off but, of course it came back. If I take it out and pour boiling water on it will that kill it? I want to try and keep the coraline on the rock. Thanks.

You can use a product called Joe's juice. That's what I've used in the past. It is relatively cheap and it workshttp://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewitem.aspx?idproduct=JJ1111&child=JJ1111&utm_source=mdcsegooglebase&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=JJ1111&utm_content=JoesJuiceAiptasiaEliminator20mL&utm_campaign=mdcse&site=google_base

even if you use products like that... injecting that stuff
into the aiptasia.. you will never be sure you got them
all and they always came back for me.

if it was me and what i know now? throw that rock away
or do something to it outside of your tank until it is totally
free of the infestation.

imho of course

try the new product by Red Sea Aptasia X, works much better than Joe's Juice and doesn't cause a ton of them to show up after killing one. I've seen great results with it and so have many others.

If it's only one, remove the rock, scrape it off with a razor blade and then inject it with a kalk paste or Joe's Juice or boiling water. You need to remove and/or kill all remains of it.

If its a onesy or twosy, you can just mix up some reef epoxy you use to attach corals to rock and stuff a piece on top of him. You'll have a spot of epoxy, but one dead aptasia, peppermint shrimp also tend to think of them as lunch.

Burn it. Take the rock out, get a wind proof lighter, and torch it. It worked out great for me, and they never came back. Ive also tried injection them with vinegar, and it works about 75% of the time for me. Some people say to boil the vinegar to add salt to the wound, but I think it is highly unneccessary.
