who uses aquamend?
Is it me or does it work like crap? i know a lot of people use it to attach corals but it barely ever holds. I attach my frag to a small piece of rubble, then get a ball of aquamend and use that to squeeze inbetween the frag and liverock.

Used super glue gel. It works a whole lot better. I used the aquamend before. Only trouble with it is that it's not sticky. You got to make the aquamend go around it to hold.

i just recently started using aquamend, simply tired of my crabs knocking my corals off the rocks.....
,,,,,,i used as instructed and works great for me...really really strong hold in my opinion...the problem is that when applied , it seems as if it is not going to hold, one can remove and readjust rather easily...leave for 12 hours in tanks and good luck tryiing to seperate the coral from the rock....aquamend works strong for me. |

When I use aquamend to attach corals I use it WITH super glue. It squishes around the coral and rock giving the superglue more surface area to adhere.
Basically it goes coral-glue-aquamend-glue-rock. With this method I don't have things falling of like I did when using glue alone or aquamend alone. Try the combo. I think you'll be pleased.

go to home depot and get the epoxy putty that says 'for lines carrying potable water'. This brand has always worked better for me than the crap sold at the lfs.

I agree with SlukBunWalla - you have to use Aquamend with Super Glue Gel in a coral->super glue->aquamend->superglue->live rock combination. Since it's malleable, the aquamend fits the surface of what your trying to attach to, but by itself, the aquamend doesn't "stick" sufficiently. The superglue gel does that.
This is the only way to use Aquamend, in my opinion. |

I usually do Frag -> Superglue -> Frag plug -> Putty -> Liverock.
That way I can still break off the frag plug and move it if necessary, and it has been necessary a number of times. (Stupid wandering picky anemone.) After a month or two, the SPS frag completely encrusts the top of the frag plug disc and you really don't see it anyways. The epoxy putty turns from ugly white to corraline green in that same time frame.
