Mesh mod for ASM Skimmer

I would like to learn how to mod my Sedra pump for my Protein Skimmer. Anyone know where I can find a thread or a link with instructions?

I can't answer "where to find info", but I can help. It's the easiest thing in the world to do. Get some enkmat from somewhere. Remove the pump. Take out the needlewheel. Cut off the "needles". I just used a hobby knife. They came off extremely easily. I would just apply a little force and they'd come flying off. Once they came off I cut three layers of the mesh. There are 4 holes in the needlewheel that can be used to secure the mesh. I got the smallest zip ties I could. I secured the mesh with the "fastening" part of the zip ties over the mesh(if that makes sense....the plastic part that fastens the ziptie wasn't on the backside of the needlewheel, but pushed in to the mesh). Once I had it secured, I trimmed up the mesh. Make sure you cut the mesh around the hole for the impeller shaft to go in to. It'll take a little bit of playing to get it trimmed well. If it doesn't restart you probably need to trim it some more.

I just did mine with the plactic weeve gutter guard that you can get at any lowes. Used about 4 layers of it stacked and zip tied together. It does really chop up the bubbles much better. it actually surprised my and I had wished that I had gotten around to it earlier.
