Fromias + linkias?
Anybody have any luck with longentivity for the fromias and or the linkias, please tell your tank size species and length of captivity.
I have had fromias before but not one make it more than a couple months. I have plenty of brittle stars even had a spawning event once. I have had a sand sifting star for 3+ years, I have not tried a linkia yet, but i definately have not had any luck with fromias. Any help and info is appreciated Thank you

Unfortunately nobody knows what linkias eat. The larger the system the better but in the end the odds are grim. I added 3 fromia and 2 linkia to my system. Still have 1 fromia and 1 linkia. Both doing well.
A serpent, brittle, or sand sifter would be a better choice. Most of the time the starfish is doomed due to the handling it relieved before you get it. The longer the tank has been set up the better your odds for survival are.

how long have you had your fromia and linkia,
Currently i have a 180 gallon reef, with about 260 gallons total volume.

I think it has been about 6 months. So not very long at all. The fromia that I have left had an arm melt away... and then healed.
Are you looking for a star with lots of color. An orange serpent though harder to find is probably a better choice. They come in a few different colors. Mine is more of a yellow color with blackish blue spines. They eat meat, so when you feed its like watching a monster from godzilla come out of the rockwork.

The orange star looks great. I have not ever seen one before.

I've had good luck with my Fromia. Well over 6 months so far. For me the key to success besides of course water parameters is drip acclimating your starfish for a very long time. I do it for a minimum for 5 hours.

I agree with a longer acclimation time. Linkias really shouldn't be added to any tank that's not huge and that has been around for a long time.
I wonder if the orange serpents are anything like their green cousins. The green ones are known to eat fish at night.. not something I'd want in my tank, obviously
