Used DIY 55 gal tank build
Hi everyone. So I've come to the forums her e because of the possibility that I can get an approximately 55 gallon used DIY tank. It was custom made out of 1/4" thick glass.
The tank parameters are as follows: L: 48" W: 18" H: 16" There is a single 1 3/4" hole in the back right of the tank. It also comes with a 30" home made stand that fits the tank. The only problem is that there is no corresponding hole in the stand to the hole in the tank. Also included is a DIY sump made out of glass. Its fairly well made and includes an entry chamber with a corresponding hole to the bottom of the tank. There is also an area that looks like it was a refugium. There is then a baffle and an outlet pipe out of the last chamber. It looks like there must have been an inline pump attached for water return. The problem I see is that there is no return line drilled in the tank. There is also no overflow in the tank. I probably will have to use a return line around the back of the tank from the sump. But I would appreciate any advice on how to approach the tank drain. The sump dimensions are: L: 30" W: 12" H: 16 1/2" Though obviously water does not fill the whole system. The sump also fits easily under the stand. The next part that comes with the tank is the DIY hood. The hood is retrofitted with with appears to be 4 15 inch PC lights around the perimeter of the hood. There are also 2 PC lights back to back in the center. I'm really not sure about the set up and don't know about how long the lights were set up. In addition to this, one of the center lights has broken, the circuit boards that are between the two center lights appear corroded. The fan that is built into the hood also looks to have been corroded a bit. I haven't had the chance to test any of the lighting though. Its an all in one deal though. The setup also includes an Aqua FX RO unit that looks to be in good shape with all the plumbing and fixtures. I will try and include pictures when I can. I am looking for some opinions on how to set everything up. I currently have a 30 gal set up that I am looking to upgrade to this set up if its worth it. The lighting concerns me as does how to set up the plumbing. Any help would be appreciated. |
