What would you consider the optimum Ric tank setup?

I posted this in the Corallimorpharian Forum but it is a bit slow and doesn't get the traffic as it will here.

Come spring I am going to set up a new tank designed exclusively for Ric's and Yuma's. I am would like to get ideas from everyone on what they think would be the optimum setup for it.

This will be started completely from scratch so any opinions on lighting, skimmers, and everything else would be greatly appreciated. If it makes any difference I am leaning towards a 40 gal breeder for the tank with a 29 gal for the sump.

Thanks in advance.

i would go with a 4x t5 setup, euroreef or similar skimmer

make the stand and canopy custom with nice trim

I don't find they like lots of light. I was given a ric frag roughly 6 years ago and it never split in my 75, under 2x250MHs. Roughly 1 1/2 years ago, I converted that tank to a Soft-coral only setup with PC lights and it has now split 5 times...

Well thats one thing I was wondering. I have t-5's over one of my 75's now and they look okay, but they don't do alot as far as splitting or growing, some have been there for a long time. I was in mind in trying the PC's on the new tank to so if they might grow better and wondering if a little less skimming might help as well.

I'm sometimes really amazed that anything will grow in my 75, the PCs don't put out that much light and most of the time, the glass tops are dirty, but everything grows like crazy! Some corals really do seem to prefer less light. In retrospect, I think I would have preferred to go with T-5s just because they are more energy efficient, but you wouldn't need many. I upgraded my skimmer a while back and the rics have split at least twice since, so that certainly doesn't seem to be hurting and I think provides a lot of benefits, so I'd say skim, skim, skim!

I have some about 12" under a 150w MH with a 14k bulb and they split quite often
