Any Octopus BH 2000 users?

Hello,
Just would like some feedback/info on these skimmers. Thinking of getting one of these on my 55gal mixed reef, Seem like a pretty sweet skimmer but can hardly find any info let alone feedback... So if you use one of these or even the BH 1000, Please reply
Ps. Pictures are always welcome haha

Thank you very much,

~Nick

I *just* got mine. Set up on a 15 gallon frag tank right now. (Yes, it's seriously oversized, but I might upgrade it to a 40 at some point.)

Built very well and a bit larger than I thought it would be. Tons of bubbles, haven't really broken it in fully yet. Seems quite loud.

Overall, happy with it so far.

I had the BH1000 on my 55. It worked really well for me. I am going to sell it soon as I have upgraded to a reef ready tank and want to go in sump. I think the 1000 is plenty for a 55.

Thanks guys,
Everyone i talk to seems to have just gotten one.
~Eight; You said it's quite loud? What is loud about it the pump or air tube? My tanks in my bed room so this kinda worries me about when i'm watching tv or trying to sleep...
~ajones51 Well i have a good amount of corals and lets just say my fish are fat :P Plus the 2000 is only like 10 bucks.

Any other options on this skimmer?

Thank you,
~Nick

I picked up a BH300 last night for half price. Not too loud, but having some problems adjusting the cups. I am either filling the cups quickly or not at all. I am sure it will get better once it is broken in. I think I am also going to add some drains in the cups so I can drain into a larger container. I am worried about over flowing onto the carpet. Anybody else add a drain?

Thank you!

Good skimmer. Decent air flow/body size match. I have had a few start up issues, but none I cannot live with. If I had to do it all over again, I would still pick this skimmer for this particular application.

Ok thank you Murray thats what i was wanting to hear.
What kind of start up issues? Isn't the pump hooked to the intake?

I personally don't dig the bh300 either. I don't think the pumps are hooked up to the intake, they rely on a siphon kind of start up??? I know the bh100f does.

I don't think the bh1000 and 2000 are siphon kind... It looks like the intake feeds into the intake of the pump.

I have the bh300, pumps start up without any siphon. So far, on day three I am still happy with the skimmer. I also discovered that the skimmer water level has a relationship to the tank water level. I removed some water to check this.

This goes for every skimmer on the market. The lower the water level, the more head pressure you are adding to the pump.

No, you don't have to siphon it, but you do have to cut off the air flow (pinch the air tube) to allow the pump to draw enough water to start correctly. Actually, I guess this is a siphon. I have only had to do this a couple of times, as usually there is enough water pressure to start on it's own. In all, it's a very good skimmer for a hob. I estimate that it skims about 4x as much as my Remora did (although that's not saying a lot). I get about 4 oz./day of medium dark skimmate on a heavily loaded 30 gallon.

Oh i see... But it eventually will start again right? Like if the power went out while i was gone and it came back on? Or would it be sucking air until it was plugged?
Now just to find who has a good deal on it...
