pump question

Is a Sedra 3500 comparable to a mag 7? if not what is

not 100% sure but i think the mag 7 pushes 700 gallons and the sedra about 450, if im wrong i apologise but i think the mag 7 has more output

The Sedra 3500 pushes 350 gph. Look into the Sedra 7000, that will give you 700 gph.

the mag 7 came with the skimmer will it be ok to run this and if so what pump should i use as a return pump

not sure if I'm missing something, but you want to use the mag 7 for a skimmer? is that the pump intended for it?

no it's not the sedra 3500 is though... i was wondering if the mag 7 could run the skimmer

Oh,
I don't think it's a good idea for more than one reason. Each skimmer is designed for a near to specific flow rate and the difference between the pumps is 2 times flow rate. Putting more flow through the skimmer body is deconstructive to to process. Another point is, and I am not sure of, but can a air venturi even be attached to a mag? Plus the Sedra is equipped with a needle wheel which is a big plus for skimmer efficiency.
