high phosphate and silicate
My understanding is that high levels of either/both stunt the growth of corals. If either/both are high will it also stunt the growth of coraline?

Not sure on silicates, but phosphate will have an effect physically and chemically.

Excess silicates can contirbute to diatom growth which can cover parts a of corals, rock or substrate.
Phosphate above .25 ppm is known to interfere with stony coral growth by inhibitting the corals ability to calcify.
