Creepy Crawly'S in tank
So this is a NOOB question but I started cycling my 75g about 3 weeks ago. I noticed tonight on one of the live rocks a caterpillar looking thing that was half purple and half orange. Then about an hour later I noticed a hermit crab chasing what looks to me like some sort of ant. Does anyone have clue as to what these little creatures are and are they harmful?
My live rock came cured from the LFS and there is about 80lbs in there. |

I was going to try and grab a couple of photos but there critters are so small you would never be able to see them.

It sounds like a common bristle worm (half purple/pink) and the ant is probably an isopod of some sort. Don't worry, the creepy crawlies you describe are normal and a sign that things are going well.

I agree with sunfish doesnt really sound like anything bad, if you start hearing or seeing something then you might want to worry, and in the mean time try to get a picture

that's a good sign. You get all kinds of hitchhikers on your LR some good and some bad. the little critter is probably an amphipod and the worm might be a bristle worm. You get the pod population going and that's free food
