Help... What pump to buy for ATO?

Hey Guys...

I just bought an ATO and I need a pump that will flow water up about four feet high into the display. I want one that will pump slowly (for peace of mind). What's the best bet and rather inexpensive? Thanks!

I would use a maxi-jet utility pump. model 1100 has a max head of 5.7 feet and draws only 21 watts. It also has adjustable flow control so it should do the job well. JMO.

I keep readding to get a 'aqualifter', but don't know what the heck that is!

Maybe this is what they're talking about. Nice price!

Maxijet 1200 will do it handily: mine's infallible even with kalk in the topoff water. I believe Aqualifter is a brand name.

If you have a sump I would add top off to the return section in the sump.

may not apply.

Exactly what I use - works very well. Mines pump up about 3 feet and at that level it slowly adds top off water.

Unfortunatly for now I'm going sumpless, so it'll have to drain into the DT. I think I'm going to go w/ the aqualifter. I need it to pump about 4' up but I'm going to hang the pump at the top inside my stand and then run hosing into the 5g bucket and then from the pump into the DT. Hopefully it'll work out well!
