Foaming????
Anyone have an idea why I am getting a lot of foaming at the drain into my sump? It is foaming at my filter sock on the sump side. I have turned down the drain flow but that seems not to help any.
I have tried new socks and washed socks and they all seem to fill up with water foam and run over into the sump and just go away. The foam is causing a lot of salt seap on the sides of my sump and cabinet. Any help out there for this newbie??? Tom |

Are you using a protein skimmer?
Foam can be an indication of a buildup of soluble proteins and fatty acids which a skimmer removes. |

I have a AquaC EV-180 in the sump. Its not running right now. I didn't think I needed it until the tank went through its cycle.
I also am having a hard time setting up the skimmer. Thanks, Tom |

I have the same thing- same stages. It's almost like the bubbling in the filter sock is acting like a skimmer. Mine is even brown on top. Start your skimmer up, you'll need to break it in anyway.
