need help with coralife super skimmer 125
I am having a problems with it. It will either skim super wet ( like basically pouring into the cup) or it doesn't skim at all. All I do is just barely touch the adjustment nozzle and it goes from one extreme to the other. I can't seem to get it where it will consistently slowly froth up thick foam. I was hoping you other coralife owners could chime in and help me out. The sump is about 5" or so full of water, and the pump is sitting on the bottom of the sump. I have a DIY'd outflow tube made of pvc. If it helps, the bubble that are coming up are a very fine bubble versus the big thick ones. I just have never owned one of these and just need some help on how they like to be situated. Thanks

Did you get the css 125 used? I've found that running the skimmer in a tub with water and white vinegar will help clean the pump and solves the problem of it filling the cup too fast.
Also, make sure there is nothing blocking the air intake tubing and that it isnt wet inside. Make very small adjustments to the skimmer over the course of a couple days. Superskimmers work better after they slime up a little bit.

yeah, I bought it used. I'll try the vinegar bath and then get new airline tubing to put on there.

Make sure you clean all of the air inlets.

does your skimmer sit in the sump at a constant water level? this is very impotant for the super skimmer, small changes in water depth will change its preformance.

No small changes in water level do not affect the SS models that is a common and false misconception. Mine is hang on tank and my water level varies up to 1.5" with no problems at all.
OP the adjustment is sensitive make small changes. Clean the air passages as suggested. Post a picture of it in operation so the bubble level in it can be evaluated. You want the bubble column to be half way up the neck below the cup for dry skimming. |

do a search and do a gate valve mod on it. Makes it much easier to adjust. That red know is worthless. Mine worked great after I modded it
