Coralline algae

What´s your practical advice for coralline algae?
What additives?
What to avoid?
Are T5s the best?
Thanks.

Keeping your cal, alk and Mag at proper levels.

Cal should be around 400-450
Alk should be around 8-11
Mag should be around 1200-1500

NJdevilsfan, i love purple up! It is amazing how well it works for me! I have 54gal and dose one cap twice a week. I have used other calcium adds and haven't found the response i get with purple up. I an running 96watts t-5 and it grows great under that, but am adding 250watt 20k MH soon. hopefully it won't effect my coralline!!!!

I personally would get a good two-part over Purple up.

Here is one thread about it,

There are more in the Chemistry forum.

First off you need corraline on your rocks first. Corraline feeds on calcium so keep your params right and it will grow eventually. I used to use p up when I was a noob and honostly it did nothing.
