Question about AC jr

Hi, i have a AC jr, i have been useing it for about 6 month, it driving me crazy, i cant make the unit to keep accurate time or even semi accurate time.
i tried the leap seconds so many time, the unit does not seem to gain or loose time in regular base, i wait few days evry day it seems diffrent, the best i can do is make it loose or gain 2 sec a day for 2-3 days , then it goes up to 8-10 sec day and then up to 15 sec a day........itsdriving me crazy..
am thinkig to switch to Profilux......i hate to spend that much money.
i contacted Neptune and they told me 2-3 sec a day is normal, but am way off. i like the unit, but what kinde of a timer that does not keep time!!!!!
Help........

I think you would get better help posting this in the Neptune forum.

I have my leap set at 27 seconds a day and it still gets behind about 10 minutes every two-three months. After five years I just got used to it

Same here about getting use to it, but the unit works so well that I've over looked it.

Mine is off 1-2 minutes per month. That's after returning a unit that advanced only one minute for every SEVEN that passed.

I can get a digital watch from a cereal box that keeps better time, so the circuitry isn't all that complicated. Neptune really screwed the pooch on this one.

Mine is still brand new I am not even using it yet, but I have plugged it up and set the date/time etc. Mine has lost 20 minutes in the past two weeks!

Most of us just set the "leap seconds" setting which adjusts the time automatically every day by that many seconds. So if your ACJr is off by a minute every night, set the "leap seconds" to 50-60 and see if that fixes it.

Once dialed in correctly, you shouldn't need to adjust the ACJr more than once every few months, if ever.

It's not that huge of a concern. I expected a few issues when I paid $200.00 for a controller when the next closest competitor at the time was closer to $600.00.

i did adjust the leap second, and it will still be off by few minits every month, some time its gaining and some time its loosing on the same leap second setup. if iknow am loosing/ganning time at a regular base it will be fine , but its randomly
will you trust a watch that does not keep time?!!!
thanks

to me adjusting the time every month or so is of minor concern for all of the automation it provides to my tank. heck I tend to adjust stuff on the controller more than 1 a month as it is and a few minutes either way I doubt will effect anything - i.e. its all relative

Aside from the time and the fact that a temp probe went out last year, the unit has been flawless. So to gripe about having to spend 30 seconds resetting the time every month is about the smallest worry I have in the hobby

Same here. I had more issues with it before I upgraded the firmware through the Neptune website. For what I paid for this unit this is a trivial issue to me.

This unit would have been one of the best in the market if the clock was not the issue. i wish they use a diffrent clock/chip/crestal......
they need some upgrade
