plumbing problem HELP?!(PICTURES)
re-built the 29g tank i tried to clean up everything and install a decent drain ssystem that doesnt gurgle and at the same time improve the water flow and make it more random but im afraid i failed miserably at it ...atleast the return part of it.
information id like to state beforehand is. -29g tank -20g sump -6 feet of head pressure but the current repositioning of the pump is only 5 -pump is quietone3000 problems: -pump does not suck water trough the intake pipe ive built for it. -when i pour water into the intake pipe it barely drips out water at the top.(pump was previously set up as in-sump with 6 feet instead of 5 and it had too much flow for the drain to keep up with so it obviously has the power) HERE IT IS: placed pump on top of sump with 3/4 output and 1" input pipe 5 feet of head pressure and it reaches the top splitting two ways around the top of the display tank 5 drain lines ...1 will be positioned to shoot at the surface to lose suction incase of power failiure. any help or ideas would be great! let me know if i forgot anything

Well, I'm not a pump expert, but my first thought is that the pump has to be lower then the water....or have some method of priming it were it is

If you weren't space challenged I would say to have a hole drilled in the side of the sump and get a bulkhead...

thank you so much i just got an idea....if i place the pup under the spill holes....i have room for it...the intake will have to trvel underneath the sump(yes theres room and come up the other end and trough the glass....crazy as hell but it might just work. all i have to do now it take the whole thing aprart.
thank you so much! ive been planning this for a week straight and on a budget...made my own bulkheads lol out of CONDUIT PVC...so far none have leaked (knock on wood) i will post more pictures in a build thread tomorrow when im done with it. the silicone wont cure untill....tuesday afternoon but tomorro will fill it up with tap and take pictures. hopefully no more issues will come up. as far as the holes in the top caps ...any ideas? suggestions?

you could also try the pump in your sump and see how the temp reacts, since you and I live in cold weather states it may not make that big of a difference.

Yes the pump doesn't self prime. In fact, you would need to submerge it or build an up and over with a priming T at the top. Also that pump is not going to push very much through that spray bar. You need a pressure rated pump.
If you go to the headloss calc on the home page and start adding exits you will see how pumps begin to decrease their gph as you add more exits. You may see that pump only push about 200gph... I'm guessing here
