Aiptasia again?

I have Aiptasia all over once again, isit possible to recure the rock and kill the aiptasia or thats not a option? I have a clown and some snails.

It seems I can never get rid of it, I have a 29 gal cube.

Get some peppermint shrimp. I have had tremendous success with them eating all of my aiptasia in 3 different tanks.

i agree some waht. peppermints are the way to go first. just dont feed your tank the day you add them so they dont find extra food to eat instead of the aptasia.

as a ? are you sure it is aptasia and not majanos? sp

if it is the latter, peppermints wont help. so manual removal is the best for you. hope this helps you out.

absolutely. they will fix your problem and when they are done, you can find lots of people who would love to take them off your hands to help them rid aptasia.

Also, try and get peppermints that come from Florida. Its my understanding that some peppermints do not eat aiptasia, but the ones from the Caribbean are known to have a taste for them.

+1 on the different types of peppermint shrimp. Had 'em and never ate any of my aiptasia.

I would try just one for a week or two and see how it works out. If he doesn't clear it up then grab another.

Is it advisable to QT the peppermint shrimp before putting them in your tank?

I had about a dozen aptasias in my tank ... tried injecting some with boiling vinegar and that seem to get rid of the ones I injected (not easy to do ... they disappear into their holes very quickly) for a couple of weeks, but then they seemed to return. Yesterday I picked up two peppermint shrimp from my lfs ... this morning I woke up and the aptasia is all gone!!! I would definitely get a couple of peppermint shrimp ... it worked for me!

A butterfly fish may be an option you want to explore as well. I have heard that peppermint shrimp can nip at some species of soft coral. I kill aptasia by injecting them with liquid eco calcium. it works well for me!
