Durso's at different heights in same overflow box?

I have a 120g tank and i am wanting to put 2 dursos in the overflow box. problem is that there isnt enought room for them to be at the same height, Can i put one higher than the other one, and just make sure the top cap is above the water?

i know that the lower one would be doing most of the work and the top one would act as a back up. but i am planing on pushing about 1000gph or so. i think i will need 2 1.5" drains opposed to 1 1.5" drain.

i run 2 dursos @ different heights, 1.5" (main) and backup @ 1". Easily handles 1000ish.
