I do have a copper test and Phosphate but I hardly ever use them. I bought the copper test for when I had a quarintine tank.

I have 2 Clown, 1 6 line wrase, 1 yellow wrasse, 1 Mandirine ( almost 8 months), and 2 others I have forgotten the names. what do you mean by phasing out the canister filter do I not need that to add oxygen to the water?

I would test the tank for
Temp
PH
Salinity
Alk
Ammonia
Nitrates
Phosphates

You might as well get a reading on Calcium and Magnesium while your at it.

The bottled water I would test for
TDS
Ammonia
Chlorine/Chloramine
Nitrates

The other two fish might be important and as far as the canister filter goes it can be phased out slowly. The Protein skimmer will provide the aeration that that you need. I have a canister filter that I rarely use for polishing the water or some special purpose along those lines but I don't leave it hooked up all the time .

the skimmer will add enough oxygen to the water. just make sure the display water ripples at the top and is moving well.

Can some one explain this to me
do you have a "rock wall" and is there an area of slow flow behind it?
I am not sure what they mean
