Mixing Zoo's, Softies, LPS, SPS
My tank is currently chocked full of Zoo's, Mushrooms, Brains, and other assorted LPS. I am considering after 5 years to try my hand at SPS. I want to make sure though before I do that zoo's and softies won't hurt SPS since I would be keeping them toward the top fo the tank were the softies and the zoo's are. The LPS would be pushed down toward the bottom of the tank, and far enough away that any sweeper tentacles would not touch the sps. So let me know do I have the RC green light to get some SPS besides my monti cap!
Thanks everyone. |

Go for it. Just leave plenty of space.

Good light, clean water, and run carbon, as has been said. FWIW, IME, not all corals will mix and thrive. It's like trying to have a garden with alpine evergreens, roses, and orchids all in the same soil

I've got a 29 gallon biocube with a mix of everything:
Green monti cap, orange monti cap, frogspawn, favia, candy cane, open brain, blastos, birdsnest, green palys, kenya tree, eagle eye zoas, pink zoas, green bay packer zoas, neon green zoas, some kind of baby blue zoas, anthelia, and xenia. Its takes some puzzle building skills to make sure there is enough space between them and I keep a close eye on the tank every day to look for any signs of turf war. I also don't have a skimmer (on its way) but I do water changes quite often.
