Will coraline grow over white epoxy putty?

Just installed my first corals today! But I got a little overzealous with the putty and was not watching from all sides. One of my frags has a good bit of putty overflow onto the rock, and the bright white sticks out like a sore thumb. It has already hardened.

Is there any way to remove it from the rock? Or if not, will coraline eventually cover the exposed epoxy? If it will stay white forever I think I will try to have to hide it with a piece of LR rubble, as the exposed epoxy is pretty close to the sand line...

Yes it will cover over with coraline or zoes etc.. I now use the purple epoxy but the bright purple of new epoxy stand-out just as much as the white does.

thanks!

next time I will be a lot more careful to really trim away the plug more so I only need to use a dab of putty under the coral, instead of needing to make a "platform" for the plug to stand on.

No worries, it will certainly cover over quite quickly.

Good luck and happy reefing

what kind of corals where they? if sps, the frag will also normally encrust over the epoxy as well.

They were ricordias. I'm not really happy with the placement and may try to move one of them tomorrow, if I can peel the putty off the live rock... is it possible?

These like to stay low in the tank, right?

When you want it to release it won't! When you need it hold fast it will fall off all on it's own. Give it a try, really depends on how porous and clean the rock was to start.
