Looking for bluer 175 Watt 10K or 14k Mogul Halide Lamp

Hi I am looking to replace my 15K 175watt Metal Halide Bulb - Iwasaki for somthing little bluer. They are now more than one year old. But I would like to keep good PAR. I use 3 Blueline Electronic Halide Ballast and I have 2 72" URI 72in - 160 watt Actinic Blue - VHO
What I am looking at is.
Icecap 175 Watt 14K Mogul Halide Lamp,
175 Watt 14000K Metal Halide Bulb - Phoenix, Mogul Base,
14k 175watt Hamilton Halide Bulb - mogule,
or do you think I should just stay with 15K 175watt Metal Halide Bulb - Iwasaki

Any info would be great. If you have photos of your tank so I can see the coloring would really help

Hi,

I recently switched from the Iwasaki 15k's to the Hamilton 14k. I'm still on the fence about it. But, I think I'm so accustomed to the blinding white of the Iwasaki that the Hamiltons look really blue to me. These pictures are without actinic supplementation.

Iwasaki 15k:

Hamilton 14k:

Iwasaki on the left, Hamilton on the right:

Hope that helps.

Andy

Well the Iwasaki is the monster PAR bulb, it looks like according to Sanjay's site you will be cutting your PAR in half by moving to the Hamilton 14K, he doesn't have the Icecap on there but most of the 14K bulbs are pretty low on PAR.

Can you just add some supplemental lighting? That way you keep your PAR and get the color you want. I am on the other end slowly working my way up the PAR ladder. I was using an SPS14K which is way loooow on PAR.

The PAR on the Hamilton 14K goes up if you use it with an electronic ballast....

Nice photos and thank you all for your info. Now on supplemental lighting I have two 72in - 160 watt Actinic Blue - VHO and I do not thing I can fit any more in the hood. I will have to take a good look to see if I can put more in.
