opinions on a Deltec

what are people thoughts of a deltec APF600 skimmer on a 90 gallon SPS dominant tank? I know its a little much but that might give me some extra room to really feed the corals...

Deltec skimmers are awesome. I was running an MCE600 on my 72 bow for a while until I got a sump. That skimmer was pulling out all kinds of thick skimmer nog. The only downside to the MCE600 was because of the compact HOB design, it had a small collection cup that I had to empty frequently.

I had a APF600 for my 4x2x2. The tank was too much for this skimmer. I would think a 3ft tank is ideal.

If are buying a used one for a good price it would be OK, if buying new I would go with a bubble king 180 mini, ABT cone or a Warner Marine cone. Deltecs IMO are way over priced for what you get. They are made with extruded acrylic the support for them is terrible ect.... ect......

Get used to holding your breath

I would agree with this. Even tho the extruded acrylic and ABS plastic never bothered me...
IMO, when it comes to protein skimmers, its about how they work. How they look is just a bonus. I actually liked the black ABS.

If you can find a used one, they are great skimmers. I had an AP600 on my old 90g then went to an AP902. Loved them. I wouldnt buy another new one tho. There are other skimmers out now that were not out when Deltec was so popular... the WM makes a great looking deltec copy, seen them at salty critter on a recent trip and I was impressed.

The ATB's really have my attention right now... I can share a little more on that in a week or so.
