will 2 vortechs on a 240 create wave action like a wavebox will?

So ive se on smaller tanks a wave going back and forth being made with a vortech without a wavebox. will 2 vortechs on both ends of a 240 tank make a wave as well? any input is appreciated i would like not go the wavebox route

I would say that if you're just looking for that wave, go with the tunze wavebox. I don't think two vortechs could on a 240, but I might be wrong. On a 75g you will get that wave at the top. I just use mine for flow

i cant duplicate the wave action of a wavebox with two vortechs on my 70. i get awesome flow and current with my vortechs, but nothing like the wavebox back and forth action. i've tried them on the same side of the tank in pulse mode, opposite sides in pulse mode, in synch and antisynch and couldnt get anything close to what my nano wavebox created. i took the wavebox out as i need to re-do my rockwork to hide it in the back as i dont like its look in the front of the tank. i've settled on running them independantly, one at 100% reefcrest and the other at about 80% lagoon mode and i get great randow, turbulent flow, but not the wave action of the wavebox.

hey macreefster, I can get a small wave on my 75g, but they need to be anti-synced, put in blue for pulse mood, set the speed all the way, and try to lower how long the pump stays on.. takes a little while to get it tuned in, but it's not something id like in my tank since my sand bed sucks

I can't duplicate the wave action of a box in my 120 with 2 vortechs.

I get a decent wave, but nothing like a wavebox.

the wavebox seems to create a more subtle wave, where as the vortech is a more rapid flowing wave.... Atleast that is what I witnessed on a local guys tank when we compared the wave action of both devices

I get a nice 4" wave in my 75 gallon with 2 vortechs. Its back and forth/up and down (similar to a seesaw), and I'm very happy with it. Keeps things nice and chaotic in the tank. Mine are on short pulse mode, anti sync. I lowered the water level in my tank about an inch or less, and it seemed to make a good difference. I have my vortechs about 5" from the waters surface.
