painting in the fish room

I'm going to be painting the wall where the fish tank is. Is it ok to paint with the tank in the room? I really dont want to move it.

It can affect the tank so you need to take precautions. I would cover the tank completly, shut off the protien skimmer( it will suck in fumes with the air and mix them with your water), open all the windows and set up some sort of ventilation ( fans, air purifiers)

I wouldn't take a chance...my husband painted a board in the kitchen and it killed my Zebra Tang that was in QT in a 20 gal in the next room in minutes. But that's just me. And I had the tank covered and windows/doors open and all pumps off.

Cover your tank with clingfilm, cut a small hole to allow air to get out and aeriate with an airpump located outside of the fishroom )and away from the fumes for a few days. Allow plety of ventilation. If you can attach a length of airline to your skimmer air intake and locate the end of this outside the danger area, you can continue to use your skimmer

I am a painter well kinda but they make paint that is odorless and safe to use around babes and pregnant women not if safe for fish but worth looking into to save from moving tank, paint is a bit $ then reg paint.
