Not that we have noticed, though we are using an Aqua-C Remora Pro skimmer w/ Pre-filterbox, which has worked really well for us. But everyone has their own opinions and comments on Aqua-C...we have a CPR aqua-fuge and the newer models have a microbubble trap that goes on the outlet/return to the tank that might just solve your microbubble problem. The bubble trap looks like nothing more than a black nylon mesh sock - you might be able to get them to send you one if you email them...
Sometimes when you add additives to the tank (calcium, water conditioners etc) that changes the surface tension of bubbles making them either more or less likely to form...How long has your skimmer been running and do the bubbles disappate after say 24hrs of adding the calcium mixture? Then again sometimes just putting your hand in the tank, the oils from your skin will do that as well. Also, check the output of the venturi on the CPR, you may be having too much air going in...You want a medium to dry foam- if its too wet you'll skim out alot of water and it will look like weak tea... You want the skimmate to look dk green or maybe brown depending on your system. Just some thoughts... Good Luck... |
