JBJ Nano upgrades?

hey guys, i have the 24 gal. Nano and im looking to upgrade or mod. so far i only have mushrooms growing.
here are the specs.....

24 Gallon, 64W Compact Fluorescent System - Includes: Surface skimming filtration system, 1-32W square pin Dual Daylight 10000°K/6700°K Daylight bulb, 1-32W square pin Dual Actinic 460nm/420nm Actinic bulb, 2 blue LED lights, cooling fan, mechanical sponge filter, 290 gph submersible pump with flat nozzle,

any lighting suggestions? what are the thoughts on figi mud in the center of the filtration chamber? (ive removed the bio balls)

Post this over on the Nano Reef forum, you'll find people with your tank who have installed the upgrade and have your tank.
