Feedback on 30 VERY long idea
I'm thinking about picking up a tank for sale locally. It's a 30g VERY long. (12x12x48). I would need to also get a light fixture for it. My interest isn't really fish but I am thinking it would make a great long reef with a bunch of zoas, softies and maybe a shrimp or two (along with CUC).
With enough live rock, live sand and regular water changes can I do this without a sump ?. I am thinking about hiding the heater in the back and adding a number of power heads along the length. In my mind I'm picturing a very nice long scene to look at once the corals come in full but am I missing something ?. Thanks |

Honestly... I'm running a 36G setup and for space issues can't run a sump right now, and let me tell you- it SUCKS!
IMO, the tank size is alright but do yourself a favor and don't go sumpless unless it's out of the question. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later. GL

With only 12" of depth, it may be a bit tricky aquascaping. Be very careful or the tank will look like the great wall of China. I think 18" would be the minimum depth for my taste in reef tanks.
