very cloudy water
I just put the water in the tank yesterday . It has a bunch of old dead rock( 4 + years in a milk crate) that has been scrubbed and rinsed and new reefgrage substrate. It started to clear up but has now started to get very cloudy. Nothing alive in the tank yet , just getting salinty temp , dialed in .None of the return water is pointed into the sand bed . temp is 77 and salinity is 1026 . Any idea why its getting cloudier?

All the dried up debris in the rock has softened and now coming loose. Try a filter sock.

If you have a canister of HOB filter you can put some fresh carbon in it and it will clear your water quick.
Make sure you rinse out the filters erver couple of days till the water is clear.

+1 on the carbon, but i think thats not the case here. i think its just a very large amount of dust... i also agree with the filter sock... I bet if you use it, the next day should be almost clogged.
