Piece of live rock decaying.
Has anyony ever expereinced small (the size of a dime) sections of live rock decaying? I had one rock that a small part of the rock that was coraline, turned black. (the size of a dime)
I left it for a couple of weeks and it stayed looking the same. When I first noticed it it was the same size as I left it for two weeks. It must have happened quickly. After about two weeks, I took my grabber tool and pinched it. the black spot crumbled like toast. I scraped it off very easally. It seemed to be the rock itself and not something growing on it. Any ideas. Thanks

Fiji rock. I though of a sponge but when I scraped it, it broke apart in what seemed to be hard pieces. Like crumbled. I am not sure if some sponges have that texture though.
