Light can 'shock' corals ?

Just wondering if anyone knows about upgrading lights in tanks with established corals and shocking them in the process. I currently have corals which are doing great under my HO T5's like some leathers, kenya trees, xenia, etc. However aquired a VHO unit for dirt cheap nd so was thinking of adding that to my t5 setup. Would this harm the corals which dont require higher light intensity ? Thanks.

You may want to get 2-3 layers of window screen material and support it with something like eggcrate. Remove one layer every 3 days or so.
I don't think that just adding some VHO to a Tank with T5's already on it is going to shock the corals too much, but it won't hurt anything to protect them for a week or two.

I agree I did that on my reef when I upgraded the lights to something much brighter. Worked great and the corals loved the increased lighting after the change was complete.
