red slime
ok...i have had it. This stuff is way out of control. I just don’t get it. My no3 and po4 are 0 but yet it still comes back. I am about to use red slime control and have a few questions. It says to use one spoon full per 10 gallons...i have a 180 gal tank with over 200 lbs of LR. Do i still dose with 18 spoons? Do I not run the skimmer for five days like it states? Will it harm the cheato in my sump? Anyone who has used this stuff...your comments are greatly appreciated.

I just bought the chemiclean version of the red slime remover. I have a 150 gallon with a 75 gallon sump. I only added about 15 spoonfuls to compensate for the rock and all.
I'll let you know how it works. I started off with a few patches a few weeks ago and now it is everywhere. I have a lot of flow so that's not the issue. If this doesn't work I'm going to get a UV sterilizer and run some phosban. |

Personally, I wouldn't use any magic slime remover.
I've had red slime in one of my tanks, a few months after I set it up. After doing some research, I realized it was just that my tank was out of balance.....I didn't change anything, and 3-1/2 months later, it was gone. -R |
