HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
everybody has an opinion. in a 90 gal fowlr do you need bio balls in your sump. one says yes one says no. can i use a canister instead of a sump some say yes some say no. some say precision sump some say marineland bio wheel. |

you can use any of those options and see what happens,i think as long as your not doing corals it doesnt matter to much but out of the 3 you said i would go with the bioballs because its east to take them out and make it a sump

mmcpparties,
If you have enough live rock in your tank it will take the place of all those you listed (for the purpose of converting ammonia to nitrites to nitrates). a good start would be 1-2 lbs of live rock per gallon of water. If you don't have enough or want live rock for that purpose your best bet is the boiballs or canister filter. The bio wheel is mostly for freshwater due to the fact that you need a giant wheel to handle the bioload that a 90 gallon can handle. IMO live rock kills 2 birds with 1 stone. You get a great looking foundation for aquascaping and a biological filter all in one. Good luck
