Tunze 9010 Protein Skimmer too much for a 65g?
Does anyone think this would be too much for a 65g sps tank? I have 4 fish in at the moment. 2 med clowns, a firefish, and a small blue angel(2inch)
How are their skimmers in general? Seem decent, like the small footprint. skimmer

No it would be great for it. I have been real happy with mine plug and play. And pretty much silent. I am upgrading to a larger unit due to new tank.

I think that will be great. I have the nano version on my 30 gallon and really like it.
Good luck

Would it be better to just get an msx 160?

Do you have a sump? If you don't you will have to oversize the skimmer. I had a 9002 on my 33 gallon no sump I pulled it. A MSX 160 with a sump is better then a 9010 with no sump just my 02 cents.

I've been running a 9010 on my 65g sps dominant tank. It works great. I think it's ideal for up to 75-90 gallons for an sps tank, so a 65 won't be a problem.

I do have a sump.
I am still leaning towards the msx 160 but if the 9010 is just as good or if not better, than happy to go that route.

both skimmers look very nice. Go with either one and you'll be happy. Sorry that isn't much help, lol.

It will work out fine. You can never have too much skimmer. Better than not enough.

Tunze are neat and their very own forum can answer the many FAC you will have when you get one, but the MSX will blow it away and then some. The tunze looks cool though and you can get near instant service from roger dodger at the tunze forum so go for it.
