HI, I am about to Purchase two Koralias for my 75 gal. my return pump is rated at 700 gph. and I wanted to get a good amount of flow, I plan to have sps. Should I purchase the #3 or the #4.
Any Input will be great

The #4s will work nicely if you are wanting ample flow. I don't know if that will be enough for SPS or not.

I have a 90gal display with two #4s, one #3, and one #1.

I bought 2 of the #3's for my 90 gallon and the flow seemed to be pretty good.

I have two 4's on my 75. As long as you don't have fine sand you should be fine.

If you think you're heading down the path of SPS, I personally would recommend 2 Modded Maxi Jet 1200's with the Sure Flow Mod... or if you can afford it... 2 proper sized Tunze Controllable Pumps, or a VorTech MP40w.

I think that two 4"s would be too much flow for your tank. I think you'd be better with two #2's. I have two 4's on my 150

Have two K4's running in my 75 now. It's too much flow for me (LPS and Softies). I have to put them about half way down the side glass and point them up at the surface to make it work. It might be ok with SPS, but maybe a bit too strong.

I have a K4 in a 20 gallon QT with another powerhead. With SPS, it's hard to have too much flow as long as it is broad flow.

I had 4's on my 75 and it was too much with my dsb and lps that I have. I now have (2) 3's. The only way I would suggest 4's is if you have only sps and and bare bottom or course substrate.

I have 2 2's and to be honest I am very disappointed with the way they have performed. I would sggest the modded maxi or if you have the money go for the vortech I have heard all good about them except the noise.

There is a huge difference in performance between the 2's and 3's.

I ran 2 3's in my 55 and it was a ton of flow.

I run 2 #4's and 2#3's in my 3' long 65 gal. I keep a mixed reef and feel I could use even more flow. Some SPS keepers are around 60-100x turn over per hour. I would start with 2 4's but be prepared to buy more as you fill your tank up with coral.

wow 60-100 I thought that my 30x was good. I have 2 #2 and a iwaki40 on a 72gallon and i like the flow.

I was the same way though when I plugged them in, I thought (with my hand in front of it) they didn't have strong flow but that's what they're designed to do, is fan out the flow, they keep everything flowing and swaying nicely. everything looks happy.

P.S. I only have LPS

When the SPS branches fill in it is harder to get flow to the center of the colony thus requiring a higher flow rate. If all you have are frags, then not as much flow will be required. My tank is right around 60x per hour. I have mostly zoanthids with SPS, about a 70/30 split. I have just started adding SPS to my tank about a month ago.

I have a 90 gal tank and had problems with dead zones (where detritus would build up) while I was running 2 Koralia 3s, and added a Koralia 4 later.

I am upgrading my tank from mixed reef to a SPS dominated mix reef and to maintin optimum water quality - you need a great skimmer, but you need to feed the skimmer - and that is my approach for powerheads.

In knowing this, I choose 4 Koralia 4s and controlled them with the Koralia Deluxe Wavemaker. This set up allowed me to target places (corners, or behind rocks) to eliminate dead zones. This keeps detritus and uneaten food suspended in the water column such that the skimmer can do its job. This also lead me tdown the path to a more potent skimmer. I figured it would be of a great benefit to make sure this additional material that otherwise would rot in my reef is removed.

Stay away from anything more than # 3's. I am running 3 # 3's and a #1 in my 75 gallon and I have no sand in the mid front of my tank. I have repositioned many times only to come to another area losing sand. The only plus I am going to get out of it is that I have 2 different kinds of zoos covering my eggcrate and bottom glass. Will be a zoo garden soon.
