eBay clean up crew..

So out of curiosity, last night I looked on eBay for a bigger clean up crew. To my suprise I found deals like:

50 blue hermits, $34 shipped
25 red hermits, $27 shipped
30 turbo snails, $30 shipped

And the best of them all;

300 nassairus snails, $37 shipped!!!

These prices sound too good to be true. Most places charge you $35 just to ship, but the feedback ratings are good, and they have a lot to boot.

Anyone have experience with this?

Is the seller by any chance Pieces-of-the-reef?

They have good prices, and I've heard a couple good feedbacks from them on this forum. I'm going to try them next time.

They are probably very very small and all caught in the wild so a good possibilty of a weak survival rate, long term.

Just make sure they are Nassarius vibrex and not Nassarius obsoleta. They won't harm anything, but they don't live long in our reef tanks. They are a cooler water mud snail. I got 50 from Ebay before and they all survived the shipping, but slowly disappeared within a few months. I see them all the time on Ebay for really cheap, but I won't touch them again. HTH

The other stuff sounds like good prices. I just recently got some cerith snails for cheap and they used 2 - 3 day shipping, so it was only $10 shipping. So, I imagine there could be some good deals out there.

Because I have a 90, not a 33. 60x18x18 is a lot of acrylic to keep algae free. Plus the 130lbs of live rock, and 120lbs of sand.

Not to mention my dogface, sixline, and copperband enjoy snacks, and my yellow headed sleeper finds it amusing to flip them onto their back. I think its a plot, the goby flips them over for the other three to eat them easier.

300 nassairus snails on Ebay are Nassarius obsoleta. Do not buy them.
I bought them before & they died within a week or so.

I 2nd that. Obsoleta is a "cold water" species and not suitable for tropical...

Oh Okay well i'm still excited about peice of the reefs auctions lol. $24 flat rate, plus $30 for 100 hermits, and you can add any additional for only $1. Not bad.

My clean up crew has slowly dissappeared, at one point in time I had about 60 crabs, 40 snails. I think they all had a huge battle royale, and fought to the death.
