rotting live rock?
I broke apart some live rock in my sump now it's getting black spot's and smells bad.

It shouldnt be rotting if it is still submerged. Was there any algae on the rock?

no there are black patches on some peices and they smell bad.

What was the timeline for breaking apart, appearance of black spots, and the bad smell?
What's the bad smell like? Rotten eggs? The anaerobic bacteria in rock I believe moves on to breaking down sulfur-based molecules and you wind up with the black patches and the rotten egg smell. It's poisonous to the fish too.
